Matrix Umbrella, a leading provider of umbrella company services is pleased to announce its recent acquisition of their Professional Passport accredited status. This recognition highlights Matrix’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance in the umbrella company sector and will help the company continue to tackle the issue of non-compliance within the market.

As the UK government intensifies its efforts to combat tax avoidance and fraud in the umbrella company sector Matrix Umbrella remains at the forefront of the fight for integrity in the workforce management industry. The government has acknowledged that up to 275,000 temporary workers were engaged by non-compliant umbrella companies in 2022–2023 contributing to substantial tax losses. To address this, new legislation will transfer responsibility for Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax and National Insurance deductions from umbrella companies to recruitment agencies or, where no agency is involved, to the end client, starting in April 2026.
