Recruitment technology business Matrix has appointed staffing industry veteran Richard MacMillan as chairman, as the company gears up for its next stage of growth.
MacMillan brings vast experience, having worked in the staffing industry for 25 years. He is also chairperson of specialist staffing company Trinnovo Group and a trustee of Forest Holme Hospice Charity. He takes over from Simon Gibbs, chairman of Fortius, who has stepped back to focus on other business endeavours.
Previously, MacMillan had been chief executive officer at healthcare staffing and services company Independent Clinical Services (ICS) for 14 years. During his tenure, he led the growth and diversification of ICS through three periods of Private Equity ownership until the company sold in September 2020, in which time ICS completed a number of acquisitions, expanded its international presence and developed a number of innovative healthcare services. Prior to that, he held various leadership roles over eight years at Adecco.
Matrix provides a neutral vendor service and end-to-end process in one complete marketplace technology platform. Its combination of people, processes and technology streamlines the way organisations recruit temporary, interim and permanent staff. Matrix removes the complexity of the supply chain to help customers deliver on higher and faster fulfilment, giving them greater control, consistency of supply, transparency, and 100% compliance, while driving cost savings.
Mark Inskip, CEO of Matrix, says: “We’re delighted to welcome Richard on board as our new chairman. The appointment comes at an exciting time for Matrix, as we ramp up our investment in people, technology and data to build on our mission to connect workers with work opportunities. By drawing on Richard’s vast staffing industry experience, this will give us a strong advantage as we enter our next stage of growth and expansion.”
MacMillan adds: “At a time when the staffing industry is making great strides in the use of technology, Matrix are exceptionally well placed to develop their systems and services to improve the experience for clients, suppliers and workers. I was incredibly impressed with the team at Matrix as they shared with me their ambitious plans to transform their products and services and I look forward to being part of the future.”
